BACKGROUND

Teej is a hindu festival celebrated by women who pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati  for the long life of her husband and firm relationship between them. Teej is celebrated on 3rd day of Bhadra Sukala Paksha(according to Nepali lunar calendar). It generally falls in late August or early September. It is a three-day-long celebration that combines splendid feasts as well as rigid fasting. Teej also welcomes and celebrates arrival of monsoon after a season of summer heat. On this day, they take neither  food nor water to practice their strict Vrata. Eating "Dar", going to shiva temples, dancing/singing are also important aspects of the festival.

In 2073, Teej is on sept 3rd, 2016. That is Bhadra 18, 2073.

CELEBRATION

There are different ways to celebrate the festivals by different people living in the same society. Besides the main day people have found different ways to celebrate.
People organize a "Dar karyakram" where everyone sings/dance/eat and enjoy the moment before-hand along with the celebrities as main attraction of the program. Today, society is changing ( changing fast). The culture and traditions of Nepalese society were far better in old days than in current days. It's being more affected by the western culture which are adopted in a wrong way.

WHAT'S UP WITH THE SONGS?

We can hear the teej songs playing on tv/radio/Youtube, posts on Facebook/tweeter. Each year new songs comes live with modern version. These days the songs have more vulgarity than ever before.
